As you might have noticed Cookiefactory was not an average shop, which has been greatly appreciated by our customers and visitors. We have even won the Prestize Award 2009 for the best shop in Aalborg and was nominated as the best shop i Copenhagen by AOK in their big award ceremony “Byens Bedste” 2008.

Conceptual Framework

As a member of Cookiefactory, the individual designers and creators can shape the perfect setting for invention and development, while also allowing their ideas and designs to achieve greater impact in a market with otherwise limited room for both uniqueness and profit. As a member of Cookiefactory, one will be marketted under one established brand and logo: one part of a greater whole, that contributes with a larger focus on the individual and his/her products.

On location at Cookiefactory, the creative environment of people of like-mindedness will serve as a source of inspiration at an interdisciplinary level, allowing the individual to form a larger network and establish important social contacts – a task realised much easier together at Cookiefactory than alone on one’s own hand. Costs usually associated with the running of a business are minimalised, because such expenses are split between the members of the cooperative. Thus there are more resources available for marketing, events and improved technical facilities.

Concept

By using assistive technology an otherwise ordinary skateboard ramp has been turned into a live computer game in which the practitioner through games and play can develop their skills on a skateboard. Instead of sitting in front of a screen the ramp invites for active pursuit of skateboarding, thus giving a new dimension to the sport and bringing game design to a new level. Cookie’s Playground is therefore a hybrid between game design and actual skateboarding.

Gameplay

The skateboarders movements on the ramp is tracked via motion tracking and classic slot machine icons is to be collected and thereby scoring points. Collecting the icons is rewarded by a different number of points and some even penalty points. The game continues as long as the practitioner is in motion. Push yourself to the extreme and beat the prestigious high scores!

Cookiefatory contributed financial resources to carry out the project to support the local skateboardscene of Aalborg.
